TROPARION
Sunday of Meatfare or of the Last Judgment, Kontakion, Tone I —
When Thou comest to earth with glory, O God, and all things tremble, then a river of fire will flow before Thy Judgment Seat, and the books will be opened, and the hidden things made public. Then deliver me from the unquenchable fire and grant me to stand at Thy right hand, O most just Judge.
Troparion of the Sunday, Tone VII —
By Thy Cross, Thou didst destroy death! / To the thief, Thou didst open Paradise! / For the myrrhbearers, Thou didst change weeping into joy! / And Thou didst command Thy disciples, O Christ God, / to proclaim that Thou art risen, / granting the world great mercy!
Hymn to the Theotokos, Tone VII —
Since you are the treasure of our resurrection, / we put our hope in you, O all-praised one. / Lead us from the abyss of transgressions, / for you have saved those guilty of sin, / O evervirgin Mother of our salvation.
Kontakion of the Sunday, Tone VII —
The dominion of death / can no longer hold men captive, / for Christ descended, shattering and destroying its powers! / Hell is bound, while the prophets rejoice and cry: /”The Savior has come to those in faith! / Enter, you faithful, into the Resurrection!
St. Tarasius, Archbishop of Constantinople, Troparion, Tone IV —
The truth of things revealed thee to thy flock as a rule of faith,/ a model of meekness and a teacher of abstinence/ wherefore thou hast attained the heights through humility/ and riches through poverty.// O hierarch Tarasius our father, entreat Christ God that our souls be saved.
Kontakion, Tone III "Today the Virgin" —
Having illumined the Church with Orthodox dogmas/ and taught all to honor and bow down before the precious icon of Christ, O blessed one,/ thou didst denounce the godless decree of the iconoclasts./ Wherefore, we cry out to thee:// Rejoice, O wise rather Tarasius!
